Washington Youth Rugby All Stars
June 17-18 the Pacific
Northwest Loggers boys team traveled to Boulder, Colo. for the Rocky
Mountain Classic.
The boys played extremely
well, beating Southern California, Missouri, and Met NY and losing 8-3
to eventual winners Louisiana. The Loggers finished 5th.
June 24-25, the Pacific
Northwest Loggers girls team traveled to Fullerton, Calif. for the US
Rugby Football Foundation Trophy. They defeated So. Cal 15-0
(try-scorers Mitra Akhavan of Budd Bay, Kristina Puhich and Kallee
Havener of Kent) and Northern California 26-0 (Lisa Henneman, Kent,
Bekah Coffey, West Linn, Havener, and Megan Thompson, Budd Bay. Nikki
Buoy kicked three conversions).
Then they tied Eastern
Rockies 5-5 (Havener, try).
On Sunday they played the
final against Eastern Rockies, and lost 13-12 in the final moments. (Akhavan
and Henneman tries, Buoy one conversion).
